- Jordan Staal of the Pittsburgh Penguins became youngest player (18 years, 153 days) in NHL history to record a hat-trick when he scored three goals, including the overtime winner, against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
- Jaromir Jagr of the New York Rangers became the 12th player in NHL history to earn 1,500 career points. Jagr had three assists as the Rangers defeated the Washington Capitals 5-2 at Verizon Center.
