Fear the Pack Attack next year.......

While it almost seems laughable after a hideous year last year for the Green Bay Packers, I believe they will be in the play offs this year and surprise many people. My first reason for believing this is that they will have their health this year, last year the Packers were decimated by injuries at every position on offense, but this year everyone will come into training camp healthy including all three running backs: Ahman Green, Najeh Davenport, and Sam Kon Gado, all effective runners at some point last year. Another reason is their new and improved defense. The Packers went out and got Charles Woodson in the offseason who is 100 times better than previous starting corner Ahmad Carrol, Woodson paired with Harris could be one of the best corner duos in the league. Also the Packers drafted very good defensive players such as AJ Hawk who is going to be a stud, and Abdul Hodge who could surprise many people with his speed. Pair those two linebackers with Nick Barnett and you have one of the fastest linebacking cores in the NFL. Also Ryan Pickett should help anchor the D-Line with Aaron Kampan and KGB. Finally, the last piece of a great offseason consisting of big free agent acquisitions, a great draft, and a lot of rehab for injuries, Brett Favre deciding to stay. Sure he was bad last year, but this guy still has the attitude and the arm to lead this club, and this year he will actually have some healthy players to throw the ball to.

So while people continue to question Brett's decision to come back and the Packers ability to win, I am ready for a great season for the Packers, and hope that people continue to under estimate them.

Favre still has no weapons on offense. Ahman Green is not the back he once was, and the offensive line is still poor. That's not a good combination. Driver is a very good receiver, and they did draft some quality receivers in the mid-rounds of the draft, but the offense is far from potent. Seeing what the Bears did by running the table using a stellar defense and inconsistent offense in an awful NFC North last season may be the reason for the defensive bulk-up, and it could win them a few more games, but Woodson is injury prone, and the d-line still isn't terrific, so I wouldn't plan on playoffs quite yet. The linebacking crew could be the best in the NFL SOMEDAY, but it's not going to happen overnight. Throw all that with a rookie head coach, and I see this team winning six or seven games tops. A nice high draft pick for when they need to replace Green next year after another horrible season.

Four games Christof? They will win alot more than four games. Like Roblefko said, their division SUCKS. The Bears were lucky to win as many games as they did last year, their defense was good, but overall the Bears weren't that great, and that was the best team in the division. Minnesota and Detroit will suck as usual, especially with their QB losses, so that's almost an automatic 4 wins out of 6 games agains their division teams. Then, they play the NFC West next year is AWFUL except for Seattle. Arizona might be alright this year, but living in Phoenix and knowing how it works down there, it doesn't look too good even with the much improved offense. Then There's San Fran and St. Louis, who combined went 10-22, and don't look much better this year either. They play the AFC East, who will most likely dominate them. Then Philly, which realistically could go either way, and New Orleans, who the Pack will dominate. I see the Pack going 9-7 or 10-6, which in that awful division could clinch them the NFC North Title.

They do have a VERY soft schedule. Aside from visits by New England and Reggie Bush and that team that he plays for with the rest of the guys on it, you can't really look at many of the games and say, they're going to lose big time in that one. They lost a lot of games last year by very small margins, and with basically no improvement offensively, it's looking to be the same scenario this year. It's a team that could either win 11 or lose 11.

Madproof u r right about the bears but this year we got some offensive pickups that might come thru to be strongholds and we are also looking at our key defensive players to stick around for the next 3-7 years pending pre presonal contracts... As for the Pack...it will be another tough year for them I believe, and only if bret can pull something amazing out of his bag of tricks I dont see them in the playoffs...Dont get me wrong, I respect him 200% and all he has done...But eventuall enough is enough.

Best LB core in the league? They don't even have the best in the division. The Bears have two All-Pro linebackers in Urlacher and Briggs. I don't see the Pack being as bad as they were last year, but the playoffs are still a few years away. The Bears didn't lose anyone this offseason. Though their draft wasn't great, they did strengthen their specail teams. Having Grossman healthy will hep, Griese is a better back-up option then Orton, and Benson will be around for the entire year. Unless the Pack make the wild card I don't see hoe they are getting into the playoffs.

They might squeak out a 9-7 record, but I agree that'd be surprising. They simply haven't improved enough over last year, especially in their receiving corps, a constant area of concern for any team that starts Brett Favre. On another note, Omar, please try to use wiki-links next time (like Green Bay Packers).

The pack will win a couple more games, but bottom line is the offense is bad, and Favre tries to do too much, he'll have a ton of interceptions and they will finish 4 behind the bears.

"Finally, the last piece of a great offseason consisting of big free agent acquisitions" Which big free agent acquisitions? With the amount of cap space they had they should have made a much bigger splash. Woodson is overrated and Pickett is not the stud run stuffer they needed. Sure their Linebackers will be good in a couple of years but the defense is still not good enough to win the division. I see them winning a few more games than last year. 6-10, 7-9 is realistic.
