At thirty-seven years of age, his critics claimed that he was too old to be an NFL starting quarterback. But on Sunday afternoon against the San Diego Chargers, Brett Favre proved his critics wrong as he showed fans and T.V. viewers why he is truly one of the all-time greats.
After the Chargers defense had stopped the Packers on fourth-and-goal, Favre knew that his team would get one more shot at a victory as they trailed 24-17.
The Chargers consumed three minutes of playing time before the Packers took over at their forty-three yard line with just over two minutes remaining.
On the second play of the drive, Favre found Greg Jennings on a slant pattern for the record-tying 420th touchdown pass of his career. The 57-yard completion, gave the Packers a four point lead over the Chargers with just two minutes left and rallied the undefeated Packers to a 31-24 win. After throwing three touchdowns in a come from behind victory on Sunday, Favre is now tied with Dan Marino for the most touchdown passes in NFL history.
"I could care less about the record," Favre said, who was 28-of-35 for 369 yards and three touchdowns. "Everyone's over there celebrating, cheering and congratulating me and I said look, this will mean nothing if we don't win this game."
