Ronnie Brown -I really didn't think he could fall much farther, but he did. He only got 11 carries and while he did receive more than Jesse Chatman, the timesharing is certainly a concern. Ronnie averaged a paltry 2.9 yards a carry and Chatman received both goal line carries. There is two bright spots for Ronnie, however. For one, he had a decent receiving day catching 6 balls for 40 yards. Lastly, Chatman was even more awful. He only got 15 yards on 7 carries and also lost a fumble and was stuffed on both of the aforementioned goal line attempts. Bench both Miami RB's for now, but do not drop them just yet.
Vernon Davis -Everyone's favorite sleeper tight end broke a lot of hearts late Monday night. The San Francisco looked awful on all cylinders and Vernon Davis was held to two catches for four yards. That's downright abysmal for fantasy owners expecting a breakout season (me included). I think Vernon's goose egg performance points more towards the ineptitude of Alex Smith and the rest of the 49ers offense than it does to Vernon himself. Until they improve though, Vernon is not an automatic start if blessed with other TE options.
Jacksonville WR's -There was really nothing to be excited about in either of the passing games of Tennessee and Jacksonville, but those looking for sleepers receivers need to look elsewhere. Great things always seem to be expected of Matt Jones and he responded with 0 catches on Sunday which tied him with inactive teammate Reggie Williams.
Steven Jackson -Not a good week for the #2 overall pick in fantasy leagues. First he struggles against the Panthers with only 58 yards on 18 carries, not to mention to mention that he lost 2 fumbles. Another interesting point is he only had 1 catch after having 90 last year. After the game, we found out that stud offensive tackle Orlando Pace will miss the rest of the season. The seemingly fail-safe running back now has some causes for concern.
Mark Clayton -I know there was some concern over injury, but come on, 0 catches? Not only that, but Steve McNair looked absolutely awful against a weak Bengals defense. Mark isn't such a sexy sleeper anymore.
Deion Branch / Darrell Jackson -The former teammates combined for 4 catches and 36 yards with Jackson having all 4 catches. Like I said with Vernon Davis earlier, the 49ers passing game is just awful and no one will get catches with the line blocking the way they are. As with Branch, how do you not get one catch? Seattle may have to pass more in upcoming weeks, but I'm still not very excited about Branch's value and he seems to have been overvalued just like his former teammate.
