Fantasy Game of the Week

Can anyone think of a better fantasy football matchup other than the Colts/Saints to start the this long awaited NFL season?
I just looked at the Vegas line on this game and even though I don’t bet sports I was a whopping 3 points under the game total of 52.5 points. I predicted 49.5 and the half a point was because there is no way that bettors will push on opening night of the NFL.
FIFTY-TWO? Does that mean that there will be absolutely no defense played in this game? Probably! Does it mean that these two offenses are so good and there isn’t a single defense in the NFL that will stop either team in 2007? Maybe! It could mean that odds makers are way off, but I’m sure that is not the case.
Anyway, from a fantasy perspective can you find a better game to kick off the season? Of the three leagues that I am in I have Joseph Addai, Deuce McAllister, and Marvin Harrison. If I get one good game out of any of these players during this entire season, Thursday night will be the one.
Which brings me to this; I wrote an article for Fantasy Insider Online about a month in a half ago and in the article “Managing Your Fantasy Roster” I informed readers that “when contemplating on who to roll with for that given week, the Vegas totals may ease your decision and push you to head in a certain direction”.
Don’t get me wrong here, of course you’re going to start Manning, Harrison, Wayne, Brees, Bush/McAllister, and maybe Colston. That’s a big maybe and some may consider sitting either Bush or McAllister. Some! Some owners also feel that McAllister is not a worthy #2 back and it could be a gamble drafting Bush as a #2 back (especially in leagues that do not reward receptions). I guess that type of thinking has been motivated by this new found fear of RBBC. Now, do you think Deuce is worried about not getting enough carries on Thursday night against a run defense that couldn’t stop a 70 year old Jim Brown or in any other game this season where the point totals will approach fifty? I could almost guarantee that Reggie Bush is not too concerned about getting his fair share of touches. Marques Colston, maybe, and as big of a bust as I see him this season, he could even wind up leading in fantasy production in this track meet of a game.
Anything can happen and it would not surprise me if any one of these players posted their best fantasy output of the entire season.
Given that QB’s are awarded 6 points for TD passes who do you think will lead this game in fantasy production. Cast your votes here!
