Fantasy Football Geekly: Week 14

What an abysmal week 13 it must have been for most of us. First off, I must give a few EFF EWES to some players. Eff ewe Bernard Berrian - you go against the 31st ranked team on pass defense. What do you do for such a great matchup? Freaking 21 yrds!!! I guess when your QB only gets a 01.3 passer rating, 21 yrds is to be expected!!
Another Eff ewe goes to Devery Henderson and Drew Brees - A whole 14 yrds for Henderson & 186 yrds for Brees against San Fran. Eff ewe K.C. Defense - How could you allow 31 points to the Browns??? My second to last eff ewe goes to Frank Gore. A VERY BAD 68 total yrds. No I can't give an eff ewe to Laurence Maroney - He went out in the 1st quarter on injury.
My last eff ewe goes to me! Yes me! Not only did I reccomend some players that didn't do jack but also started those same players in some leagues. I was WAY off in week 13!! If you want to give me an eff ewe, frankly, I don't blame ya. However, remember this - if I wouldn't start/sit these very same players myself, I wouldn't post my picks here. As much as last week screwed you if you listened to me, I screwed myself. That just sounded very bad (lol) I wonder though, how did I even make the playoffs in some leagues?? UGH!!
On the brighter side of things - the stars of week 13:
Reggie Bush - 168 total yrds 4 TD's. Was this the Reggie Bush show??
Marvin Harrison - 172 yrds 1 TD
Corey Dillon - 3 TD's.
LaDainian Tomlinson - 192 total yrds (178 rushing) 2 TD's. Have I expressed how much man-love I have for L.T. lately?? Can he get 6 more TD's in 4 weeks for a new record??
Ladell Betts - 155 yrds 1 TD. FINALLY a break-out game! How long have we've been waiting for this?
Jeff Garcia - 317 yrds 3 TD's. Who would've thought this?? I certianly didn't.
Injuries
Joe Horn - Reaggrivated groin injury. Day to day.
Marques Colston - sprained left ankle. Day to day.
Chester Taylor - Bruised his ribs in week 13 against Chicago. status is uncertain. Monitor this one.
Brian Westbrook - Hurt his toe in week 13. He's listed as probable though.
Shaun Rogers - Now why am I listed a defensive player here? Well, with this player out, the Lions are a lot weaker of a rushing defense. Which means, if you have anyone that are facing the Lions in the up & coming weeks, it would be advisable to start them.
Jake Delhomme - Questionable with his thumb.
Playoffs are here
By now in most leagues, this week (week 14) starts the playoffs. If you followed some of my advice about keeping only your best players with only a few backups, in a normal 16 player league (9 starters), you should have about 13-14 players (2-3 empty slots). This would enable you to only look at the players that would be seeing playing time and not even bother with the "scrubs". This keeps you more focused.
In my leagues I went 12-4 in 16 leagues and my overall is a combined 130-74-4 (.625 PCT), clinching a playoff spot in 9 leagues (#1 overall in 4), mathamatically elimated out of playoffs in only 3 leagues and in 1 league, there is no playoff system.
Start Em
Devery Henderson - If either Horn or Colston or both do not play, Henderson will start another game. Another factor - with the Saints facing the Cowboys, it's not going to be the Reggie Bush show this week. Which means Brees will be throwing a lot.
Maurice Jones-Drew - Going against one of the worst rushing D's (Colts), this is a favoritable matchup.
Lee Evans - against the Jets, I like this. I could see close to 100 yrds with a score.
Donald Driver - Against San Fran you have to like this matchup if you're a Driver owner.
Andre Johnson - Yes he does play for Houston but they do play against Tennessee. While Tenn may win the game, I think that Andre has the potential to put up some decent enough numbers to be concidered a low end #2 WR.
Mike Furrey - I can see some good numbers here against Minnesota. Last week against New England Mike posted 123 yrds with a TD. He might not reach 100 yrds for the second week in a row, but I can see 80 with a TD.
Travis Henry - Travis should light up Houston for at least 95 yrds & a TD.
Vince Young - Young must be salivating for this matchup. Houston is just aweful. They (Houston) should get lit up both on the ground and in the air.
Sit Em
T.J. Houshmandzadeh - I hate to say this but yes, sit him. Oakland has one of if not the best pass defense in the NFL. This can potentially hurt both T.J. & Johnson's stats. while Oakland is bad in general, I don't trust T.J. doing good against that pass defense.
Torry Holt - I don't like this matchup with Chicago on a Monday Night. I know that this is IN St. Louis, but against Chicago? Ouch - this is tough.
Trent Green - While Trent is good, I personally don't like this matchup with Baltimore.
Jay Cutler - Not quiet yet. This is a tough matchup with San Diego. If you picked Jay up off the waivers, give it another week. Week 15, Denver plays Arizona then.
Jamal Lewis - The Chiefs have a very tough run defense and have not allowed a 100+ yrd rusher in like 5,000 home games - ok - that's a bit exagerrated, but it has been 21 straight home games.
Joseph Addai - After being held to 28 yrds in week 3 against the Jags, Addai sees them once again in week 14. With the Jags rated as a #5 run defense, this doesn't look good for Addai.
Waiver Wire
Devery Henderson - How many times do I have to list him? He's still very available in some leagues. He's only owned in 78% of CBS Sportsline leagues (as of Tue morn).
Jay Cutler - Make a bench spot for this guy! While he might not work out on his first start, he'll pick it up very quickly. He just might turn into the Tony Romo of late season.
Sammy Morris - With Ronnie Brown out with a hand injury, Morris will be carrying the load for at least 2 weeks. On Thanksgiving, he did very well 12 carries for 91 yrds... welllll it was against the Lions but still, it wouldn't hurt getting Morris.
Marcus Robinson - Lacking in WR depth? Look at Robinson. In week 12, he had 7 catches for 82 yrds & 1 TD. While starting hi against a tough Bears defense, look ahead at the schedule - Minn plays Detroit (week 14), Jets (week 15), Green Bay (week 16) & St. Louis (week 17). could be the sleeper you're looking for during the playoffs.
