Fantasy Football Geekly: Week 12

Another week of high point scoring! After week 10's performance, I didn't think it could be done again. Man was I wrong.
Drew Brees - 510 yrds 2 TD's
Chad Johnson - 190 yrds 3 TD's
Lee Evans - 265 yrds 2 TD's
Devery Henderson - 169 yrds
J.P. Losman 340 yrds 3 TD's
Frank Gore - 212 yrds (still no TD's though ugh!)
Larry Johnson - 154 yrds 2 TD's
Travis Henry - 143 yrds 1 TD
LaDainian Tomlinson - 3 more rushing TD's & 1 receiving TD
I know I'm a little early with this week's report. That's mainly due to week 12 is starting in 3 days on Thanksgiving. The teams involved are:
Miami Dolphins at Detroit Lions 12:30pm EST
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Dallas Cowboys 4:15pm EST
Denver Broncos at Kansas City Chiefs 8:00pm EST
Unless you have a player on one of these teams, then there's no rush for you on getting your lineups in.
With that being said, because of the short week, you should look at who you have & who's availble on those teams. Reason being, after Thursday's game, that player has a 10 day rest! That's like a 2nd bye week. It's extra time to get healthy. For instance, I'll take the Detroit Lions for example - while they are a bad team, what happened after thier week 8 bye week? They came out in week 9 and exploded against a team (Atlanta) that they should not of beaten. While they might not win against the Pats, expect a much improved offense. So players like a Kevin Jones, Roy Williams and Jon Kitna would be worth adding/starting in week 13.
Expect simlar things to happen for K.C. at Cleveland, Dallas at the Giants, etc etc.
As for my leagues though, I had a horrible horrible week going 5-10-1 in 16 leagues and my overall is still a combined 106-66-4 (.611 PCT) no more undefeateds left. Not only was that just a pathetic week but another freaking tie!! UGH Mother flocker!!!
Injury Report
- Willis McGahee - Rib injury.
UPDATE -- McGahee practiced Wednesday and might try to play Sunday. If he does, it won't be enough to warrant a spot in your lineup. Watch this closely, as it might affect the value of Anthony Thomas this week. Joebook
- Amani Toomer - Out for the season with knee injury.
- Marques Colston - Strained ankle.
- Donovan McNabb - Out of season - torn ACL.
- Clinton Portis - Done for the year (shoulder surgery). If available, grab Ladell Betts.
- LaMont Jordan - Done for the year - torn MCL.
- DeShaun Foster - Elbow injury. While the MRI doesn't show anything bad, his playing time for week 12 will be determined later in the week. Monitor this one.
- Kevin Jones - Went out in the first quarter with a high ankle sprain. He's been ruled out for Thursday's game against Miami. Arlen Harris will be the primary ball carrier with some carries going to Aveion Cason.
Play Em
Tony Romo - Yes he was not himself against the Colts but in week 12, he should have a much better game against Tampa Bay
Joey Harrington - Yes you see this right. Now why would I recommend him here? Plain and simple - against the bad secondary of the Lions and the fact that he's been doing ok to good, I like this matchup. If you have McNabb, this wouldn't be a bad pickup - at least for this week anyways.
Ronnie Brown - Detroit seems like they just can't stop the run. Expect Brown to have a very good game.
Philip Rivers - Home against Oakland. Me likey likey!
Matt Hasselbeck - At home against Green Bay. Worst passing defense... you have to like this matchup even though it's Matt's first week back.
Fred Taylor - The Bills give up an average of 128 yrds & 1 TD per game on the ground. This could be a big week for Taylor.
Samkon Gado - With Houston's air game not being much, the Texans have to rely on the ground attack. The Jets allow more than 140 yrds per game on the ground. The duo of Gado & Wali Lundy could spell trouble for the Jets D.
Shaun Alexander - At home, Monday Night, against Green Bay... ya, he'll start.
Sit Em
Donte Stallworth - With McNabb out on a season ending injury, one of the backups, Jeff Garcia or A.J. Feeley will be under center. Against a tough Colts team, I don't like this.
Mike Bell & Tatum Bell - Mike Shanahan hates you!! Stay away from Den RB'S! Everyone thought that Mike Bell was going to be the starter through-out. What does Shanahan do week 10, not only start Tatum Bell but doesn't even have Mike dress. Then when you go and drop Mike for week 11, he started... I say to you again Fantasy owners - Shanahan hates you!!
Thomas Jones - The Patriots have the 2nd best rushing defense. This doesn't look good for Jones. Of couse, start him if you have no other options.
Seneca Wallace - Drop completely. Matt Hasselbeck is now the starter.
Eli Manning - He just hasn't been himself last 5-6 games or so. His composure isn't there, his accuracy is off... everything about him is just wrong. If you have other options, bench him until he gets a win and some confidence back.
Waiver Wire
Devery Henderson - With Marques Colston possibly out, Henderson isn't a bad option. He's shown that he can put up some good numbers.
Arlen Harris - When Kevin Jones went out, Arlen filled in ok. Granted he only got 40 yrds with a TD, but with the extra practice & playing time he'll get if K.J. is out, this wouldn't be a bad pickup in deeper leagues.
Charlie Frye - Cleveland will be forced to throw A LOT in order to keep pace with Palmer and crew. Frye almost came away big last week against Pit and Cincinnati's secondary is suspect. This might be a stretch pick but if you're in need of a QB, I would take a chance on Frye.
