Fantasy Football Draft Liveblog

We're gonna do a little fantasy draft liveblog here, live from the immaculately manicured grounds of Kroes Manor. We're all friends who graduated from the same college. A couple of us aren't in Nashville anymore, so they're sort-of-phoning it in. We'll see how that goes.
7:00 pm: The draft hasn't even started yet and we're already making fun of the guys who aren't here. Little League Baseball is on the tv but it's muted.
7:02 pm: One of us is getting a missing guy's phone number from the missing guy's brother even as two of us are telling him we've already got the number in our phones. This is starting out real well.
7:08 pm: One of the missing guys forgot about the draft and is nowhere near a computer. There's already talk of not ever doing a livedraft again.
7:10 pm The first pick in the 2006 draft: Larry Johnson. Risky move there.
7:12 pm: The missing guy drafted Clinton Portis. Sweet.
7:14 pm: My first pick is Ronnie Brown.
7:19 pm: We all just noticed one of us has a fantasy magazine and paper and a pen. We chide him lightly.
7:22 pm: The Bears fan among us drafts the Bears defense in the first round. Spectacular.
7:25 pm: The first round ends with Marvin Harrison. Interesting first round.
7:27 pm: We all just figured out that when it's our pick the website gives us a clock chime. It's the little things that count.
7:30 pm: Anquan Boldin ends the second round.
7:37 pm: Terrel Owens is taken in the third round. Some discussion ensues.
7:43 pm: So far, one team's running backs are Curtis Martin and Reuben Droughns.
7:50 pm: Just to clear it up, the magazine being used is weeks old.
7:52 pm: My room-mate just drafted Donald Driver, saying "He's Brett Favre's only target." This doesn't convince us that he made a good pick.
7:55 pm: The guy with Curtis Martin (missing, so the draft is autopicking for him, just drafted Tatum Bell. He has now drafted just Tiki Barber, Edgerrin James, Droughns, Martin, and Bell. His team is so far only running backs, and we're in the 5th round.
7:58 pm: Running Back Guy drafted another one. Jamaal Lewis. That's 6.
8:00 pm: This 6 running backs on one team thing sucks. All the starters and the better back-ups are all gone.
8:11 pm: Man, I hope Dante Culpepper has a good season.
8:15 pm: The teams on autopick are just drafting the highest rated players no matter the position. We're looking forward to those guys getting Priest Holmes and Ron Dayne.
8:19 pm: Ron Dayne has now been taken. Both Denver backups have been taken but the probable starter hasn't been. And it's the 8th round.
8:27 pm: Bill Simmons ain't got nothin' on me.
8:28 pm: One of the autodraft guys gets Michael Vick. Autodrafts usually work out pretty well.
8:33 pm: Another autodraft guy gets Brett Favre. The nice thing about Favre, not many people know this, is that he's a gunslinger type of guy.
8:35 pm: Someone finally takes Mike Bell.
In the 11th round. After his two backups.
8:47 pm: Sooooo... late rounds aren't good for liveblogging.
8:50 pm: I hope Detroit scores a lot of touchdowns in the air this year. I like seeing God get some shout-outs.
8:50 pm: The guy who drafted Chris Chambers early is pretty happy right now. Chambers looks like a man among boys in the preseason game tonight.
9:08 pm: Two hours after the draft began, the last pick of the last round is...John Kasay.
Thanks for coming, everyone. Hopefully everyone on all the other teams sucks or gets hurt this year. I'll keep everyone updated as the season goes on.
