DONTE' WHO?
7th round pick Marques Colston is one of only two rookie WR's starting in the NFL, and he is showing why. In two games, Colston has done what veteran Donte' Stallworth couldn't do in all his years with the Saints...REMAIN CONSISTENT. In his first NFL game, and first NFL start mind you, the Hofstra alum caught 4 passes for 49 yards and 1 TD. He gave a near exact effort in week two, with 4 receptions for 58 yards and another TD. Granted the two games were against the Browns and the Packers, but the confidence Colston has gained, will help him when tougher competition rolls in.
FANTASY IMPACT - Marques Colston is one to watch, and should be nabbed in all leagues. He is becoming a nice target for Drew Brees and gaining his trust. Deep leagues should consider starting him, until he shows us otherwise. Be weary of next week's tough test against the Falcons.
WHO DOESN'T LOVE GREG JENNINGS?
Just in case you were wondering, Greg Jennings is the other only rookie starting WR in the NFL...and for good reason. I pimped this kid in my very first blog, and told you to hop on board once he earned the starting gig. Week one the Pack got shut out...Jennings only managed 1 catch for 5 yards, but was targeted at least several times by Favre. In week two, he showed why he is a waiver wire gem. Facing an improved Saints D, he caught 6 passes for 67 yards and 1 TD.
FANTASY IMPACT - Is it me, or does the name Greg Jennings have a great ring to it? It's almost like Jack Stephan..."We're in the White Pages!" Don't hesistate to grab either of the rookies. They make for great dynasty league players, and are proving worthy of standard shallow leagues as either a flex or bye week fill-in. The Packers will be inconsistent, but they do try to get a lot of points on the board, which bodes well for us, the fantasy managers...Get yourself some Greg Jennings today!
DESMOND CLARK
If you were like me, and waited on nabbing a TE until a bit later in your draft, you know why...TE's are considerably inconsistent outside of the top 3. Emerging from virtually nowhere is Desmond Clark from the Bears. In two weeks he has chalked up 10 receptions for 162 yards and 1 TD.
FANTASY IMPACT - He may not be an every week starter, but makes for a legit flex spot in deep leagues and should be picked up. Depending on his consistency, he is someone to watch in shallow leagues as a potential starter.
I AM NOT MIKE WILLIAMS, I AM NOT CHARLES ROGERS...
Who am I? I am a starting WR for the Detroit Lions...My name is Mike Furrey. Who is Mike Furrey and why should I care? The Lions offense has been less than stellar to say the least, however, there has been one unusual bright spot, the play of WR Mike Furrey. In week one, Furrey had a nice game with 5 catches for 55 yards. He did one better in week two, and tallied 6 catches for 67 yards. No TD's, but then again, the Lions have only scored 1 TD in 2 games...
FANTASY IMPACT - Let's not go crazy on jump on the Furrey freight just yet, he has had two legit performances against two stout D's, but at this point, is only reccomended for deep PPR leagues. Unless Corey Bradford goes down, he is only someone to watch in standard shallow leagues.
