Fantasy Football- Quarterbacks

I love baseball season, its my favorite time of the year.  But, football is right around the corner, and it is difficult not to be excited.  Now, Fantasy Baseball is my favorite, but because everyone else loves fantasy football, I really get excited this time of year.

This year I am (finally) in a competitive league.  Normally I get into leagues with people who say they will never quit, but when they are not one of the best teams, they simply don't care.  It always makes it too easy to win.  I am ready for a challenge!

The point of this post is to gain perspective of what fans think about different players.  I have read what the experts say, and I have heard some fans talk, but I (unlike others) want to gain as many opinions from as many people as I possibly can.  This will help me in knowing what others can be thinking come draft time.

So to start off quickly, I pre-ranked some quarterbacks.  This is deffinatly NOT what my draft board looks like, and I also switched some extra guys around just to see what people say.

1- Peyton Manning 2- Tom Brady 3- Carson Palmer 4- Mark Bulger 5- Donovan McNabb 6- Drew Brees 7- Phillip Rivers 8- Jay Cutler 9- Vince Young 10- Eli Manning 11- Matt Leinart 12- Tony Romo 13- Jon Kitna 14- Brett Favre 15- Alex Smith 16- Chad Pennington 17- Steve McNair 18- Jeff Garcia 19- Rex Grossman 20- JP Losman

I want to hear opinions, on this list and just who you think will have a fantasy impact this year.

I think McNabb will be a steal in the draft, he was MVPesque early in the season and as much as people think he's "injury-prone" I think he'll stay on the field...consider his injuries were mostly freak occurances (teach me how to not let a 300lb lineman break my ankle...)

Witht that said, I think those "experts" taking Kitna are ridiculous...sure he's got good receivers but the guy in arizona has had boldin and fitz for multiple years and i didn't see droves of people going for Josh McCown in 2005...

Fantasy-wise, I'm really not a big fan of Cutler or Young...but at least VY can score on his own...

And with Glenn, Witten and Owens, Romo has to look like a good fantasy option...

I am not a fan of Young this year either. Sophmore slump combined with the Madden jinx, does look good for a young quarterback who doesn't really have any targets to throw to.

He's also, IMO, got the least pressure to perform...and playing the texans twice a year doesn't hurt either... Leinart, for the reasons above about McCown, could be a really good option...but really only if his line starts to play well...if they do, not only could Leinart dominate in fantasy, but the Cards may play in January

The Cards line started to come together late (after it was entirely shuffled around). They atleast got the running game going (all three of Edge's 100+ yd games came in the final five weeks). If they can run, passing becomes a bit easier.

Absolutely...and the defense will play better...Edge can carry a load (that's for sure) and if he can start giving you 4 and 5 yard gains consistantly, you can use that to set up some big passes (especially with that receiver corp) and the defense will start to look better too! I didn't look at the cards much, but i'll look into their O-line and perhaps leinart will be a diamond in the rough fantasy-wise?

Gotta go with Brady this year. He's as much as a lock as you can get.

He's the no risk strategy, certainly.

I'd actually go with Manning...Brady is good but Manning does it year in and year out... Moss looks like a risk to me...

Manning is hands down the first overall QB. I love Brady (even if he is a Yankee fan), but you know that Manning is going to have atleast one more year of over 40 TDs. Its just a matter of when?

I would put Kitna higher than 13...over 4,000 yds and 20 TDs last season and now he has Calvin Johnson

Stay away from McNabb early in the draft. If you are in a keeper league, a late round selection of Kevin Kolb would be a good idea.

How do you have Brees 6th? If it wasn't for LT's record breaking season, Brees would have been the MVP easily. Sean Payton is an offensive genius and with those backs Brees will have plenty of time to throw it.
