False Prophet's 2006 NFL Playoff Preview

by user False Prophet

Welcome to the only playoff preview you will need. In the past 2 years, I have gone 21-1 in predicting games each week.

Wild Card Weekend

Patriots vs. Jets

A rematch between division rivals, the Patriots will win this game easily. They have Tom Brady, a healthy trio of Runningbacks and a more developed oline. This game will be decent, but the Jets will not come close

Colts vs. Chiefs

This game has one matchup; Larry Johnson vs. the Colts run defense. The Chiefs run the crap out of the ball giving LJ 40+ carries and win this game with ease. Manning gets sent home after one game this year.

Seahawks vs. Cowboys

This game just plain stinks. Neither team is going to go anywhere after this game. I guess I'lll pick Seatle to win because Dallas can't play defense right now.

Eagles vs. Giants

Eli Manning fails the manning family again and loses in the first round. The Eagles are the it team in the NFL right now, and the Giants will pose no problem for them.

Divisional Round

Chargers vs. Chiefs

This game requires no explanation. They played each other only a few weeks ago and the Chargers dominated. Chargers will repeat their success and hopefully end all talk of "Martyball."

Ravens vs. Patriots

This is a very intriguing matchup. The Ravens Defense is strong, and Steve McNair has been a great addition. But the question is who can run the ball the best? I say the Pats will win through the run game.

Bears vs. Seahawks

And this is where the Seahawks run ends. The Bears may not be playing well, but they should be able to beat a team that barely escaped with the NFC West.

Saints vs. Eagles

Upon first glance at this game, you would guess that the Saints would win, right? Well that is wrong. The Eagles win this game because Reggie Bush is stopped, and when he is stopped, all the attention focuses to Deuce McAllister, who then becomes useless. The Eagles win it.

Conference Championships

Chargers vs. Patriots

I actually like the Patriots odds here better than against Baltimore. The Chargers win through the run, which the Pats can stop, and the Chargers blitz linebackers, opening up the Screen pass and allowing Corey Dillon to get a lot of carries. If the Patriots make it this far, I say they win it in OT.

Bears vs. Eagles

The Bears are a mess. Rex Grossman has put up 2 of the worst games ever this year. The Bears will get pummled by the Eagles because of Grossman. If Brian Griese makes the start here, I go with the Eagles in OT; if not, the Eagles win with ease.

Super Bowl XLI

A rematch of Super Bowl IXL, which the Pats won on a field goal. I think that there will be a similar result this time. The Patriots dominate through the Run, and the Eagles utilize Brian Westbrook to the Fullest extent. I think that the Patritos win on another Tom Brady 2 minnute Drill. The Game MVP will be Laurence Maroney, who will put up almost 200 all purpose yards, and 3 TD's.

So my Wild card picks are what counts for my record this week, and I'll see you all next week with my Divisional picks.

Your predicted super bowl would be a rematch of XXXIX, not IXL. Although they might mean the same thing... but XXXIX was what was on the logo. Either way, it would be just a bland and forgettable game as their first matchup and therefore I'm hoping you're very wrong.

I diddn't think it was bland, and I hope it is Dallas-NE. Barber vs. Maroney, Belichik vs. Parcells. That would be interesting

Anyone who can't spell "Chiefs" doesn't know squat about anything.
