FIFA U-20 World Cup 2007: Most Succesful Ever in Canadian Sports, What happens in the USA?

According to FIFA, the biennial tournament has set an attendance record in the Great White North, and is on it's way to surpass Mexico's 1983 stint with the most tickets sold ever for a FIFA U-20 event.

So I ask you the reader, should the tournament ever be held in the US, will we even come close to what Canada has produced as a host? Consider this, we have people from all over the world, many soccer stadiums, and an up and coming U-20 team.

My answer: That being said, no, I've checked, and hell still hasn't frozen over.

US handled the 1994 World Cup well. So yes, I think the FIFA Under 20 tournament, if held in America, would set attendance records.

The US is eventually going to have to use Soccer Specific Stadiums, instead of football stadiums where you can still see the 50 yard line. Canada's stadiums are generally multi-purpose, but I think half of the venues are Soccer Specific.

Seeing your comment (we typed at the same time), that would be an advantage to having a smaller event - really show off the great soccer stadiums we have.

As nice as the U-20 WC is, it's better suited for countries that are capable to host good tournaments, but are too small to host the regular World Cup (like Canada). The US is not one of those countries. We will have the regular World Cup within the next two or three hosting announcements (2018, 2022, 2026). Although if we did host the U-20, we could surpass Canada's records, since we did set the World Cup's attendance record in 1994.

Remember folks, this also has some politics involved, so I'm still not sold on this situation. And besides the Home Depot Center, name the great soccer stadiums we have.

I was referring to showing up the SSS's, but I really think settling for U-21 events is not in the US's best interest. Having regular World Cups is.
