[edit] Notes

  • Champions League: Chelsea and Manchester United will start play in the group stages after finishing in first and second place respectively. Third place Liverpool and fourth place Arsenal will begin play in the third qualifying round.
  • UEFA Cup: Tottenham will play by finishing in the fifth place spot. Because League Cup winner Manchester United is playing in Champions League, the sixth place team, Blackburn has clinched a berth in UEFA Cup. West Ham United will also participate, having made the FA Cup final. They would go as either as runners-up since Liverpool is in Champions League.
  • Relegation: Birmingham City, West Bromwich Albion, and Sunderland are the bottom three teams and will be relegated to the Championship next season.
  • Promotion: Reading and Sheffield United will be promoted, and they will be joined by playoff winner (Leeds United v. Watford winner).
