Excited About the NBA? Don't Bet On It

For the past couple of weeks I’ve made an attempt at writing on the NBA and my opinions on whether or not certain teams/players are worthy of being talked about. My first article mentioned the new Boston Celtics and how it may take a little time for the trio of Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, and Kevin Garnett to gel, and my next was about Kobe Bryant and how he just needs to shut up and play the game. (Which I’m thoroughly disgusted)
Here’s my dilemma and the problem I’m having in regards to writing about the NBA.
At one time I was a huge NBA fan when Bird, Magic, Kareem, Jordan, and others played the game like it was meant to be played. Physical, running and gunning, play calling, alley-ooping, slam dunks, the mid-range jumper, and more importantly fouls were called and violations were enforced by our officiating crews. However, somewhere along the line everything changed while the NBA was in search of a super star to carry the league after the retirement of Michael Jordan (who clearly had his own problems).
It wasn’t until recently that I began watching the NBA again and that was only because being born and raised in Akron Ohio and having homegrown prodigy LeBron James come straight out of my biggest high-school rivalry, my heart began to soften and once again find a passion for the NBA. LeBron brought back my passion and interest for the NBA, however, once again my heart is hardened after discovering that Tim Donaghy and multiple other officials tainted the outcome of games and how the league commissioner allowed this to happen. You ever watch, see, or hear something and for some reason your gut level feeling tells you that something isn’t right, but you cannot place your finger on what’s wrong? Well, that’s how I’ve been feeling about the NBA for the past several years.
