Born on August 27, 1910 in St. Louis, Missouri, Ewald Pyle (Ewald Pyle) played for the St. Louis Browns, Washington Senators, New York Giants and Boston Braves over the course of his 5 year career. Pyle broke into the bigs on April 23, 1939 with the St. Louis Browns, and put up a 4.09 ERA in 72.2 innings pitched in 1943, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Ewald Pyle's best season was 1944, when he posted a 4.34 ERA and struck out 79 batters.
