Born on December 31, 1971 in Tijuana, Baja California (Mexico), Esteban Loaiza (Esteban Antonio Veyna Loaiza) played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Texas Rangers, Toronto Blue Jays, Chicago White Sox, New York Yankees, Washington Nationals and Oakland Athletics over the course of his 12 year career. Loaiza broke into the bigs on April 29, 1995 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and put up a 5.16 ERA in 172.2 innings pitched in 1995, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Esteban Loaiza's best season was 2003, when he posted a 2.90 ERA, won 21 games and struck out 207 batters.
