Estaban Loaiza Doesn't Just Get Hammered on the Diamond, He Gets Hammered Off the Diamond Too

Police arrested Oakland Athletics SP Esteban Loaiza early Wednesday morning on DUI charges after officers pulled him over for speeding. Officer Mike Wright reported that Loaiza drove his Ferrari in excess of 120 mph about 3:30 a.m. The police arrested Loaiza for reckless driving and driving under the influence when he failed a Breathalyzer test. Loaiza currently remains scheduled to make his start on Thursday.

I've read more stories of American sport players doing stupid things like this in three weeks than I have in my life in England... I'm not sure that's a great idea for American sportsmen.

John Smith's name will still be in the paper. Loaiza gets more ink because we've heard of him. It will affect the way a major league team plays. No one knows or cares about John Smith.
