Ernie Whitt (Leo Ernest Whitt) was born on June 13, 1952 in Detroit, Michigan. He made his Major League debut on September 12, 1976 for the Boston Red Sox. In 1980, his rookie year, he hit .237 with 6 home runs and 34 RBI. Whitt played for the Boston Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays, Atlanta Braves and Baltimore Orioles over the course of his 15 year career.

Most people believe that Ernie Whitt's best season was 1987, when he slugged 19 home runs and knocked in 75 runs.
