Ernie Holmes (Earnest Lee Holmes) was born on July 11, 1948 in Jamestown, Texas. After going to high school at Wiergate (TX), Holmes attended Texas Southern University. Holmes made his professional debut in the NFL in 1972 with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played for the Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots over the course of his 7 year career.
Most people believe that 1976 was Ernie Holmes's best year.
