Born on August 27, 1935 in Berkeley, California, Ernie Broglio (Ernest Gilbert Broglio) played for the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs over the course of his 8 year career. Broglio broke into the bigs on April 11, 1959 with the St. Louis Cardinals, and put up a 4.72 ERA in 181.1 innings pitched in 1959, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Ernie Broglio's best season was 1960, when he posted a 2.74 ERA, won 21 games and struck out 188 batters.
