Ernie Barnes (Ernie Eugene Barnes, Jr.) was born on July 15, 1938 in Durham, North Carolina. After going to high school at Hillside (Durham, NC), Barnes attended North Carolina Central University. Barnes made his professional debut in the AFL in 1960 with the New York Titans. He played for the Denver Broncos, San Diego Chargers and New York Titans over the course of his 5 year career.
