Erich Barnes (Erich Theodore Barnes) was born on July 4, 1935 in Elkhart, Indiana. After going to high school at Elkhart (IN), Barnes attended Purdue University. Barnes made his professional debut in the NFL in 1958 with the Chicago Bears. He played for the Cleveland Browns, New York Giants and Chicago Bears over the course of his 14 year career.

Most people believe that 1961 was Erich Barnes's best year, as he picked off 7 passes and ran back 2 interceptions for touchdowns.
