Eric Tipton (Eric Gordon Tipton) was born on April 20, 1915 in Petersburg, Virginia. He made his Major League debut on June 9, 1939 for the Philadelphia Athletics. In 1942, his rookie year, he hit .222 with 4 home runs and 18 RBI. Tipton played for the Philadelphia Athletics and Cincinnati Reds over the course of his 7 year career.
Most people believe that Eric Tipton's best season was 1943, when he hit for a .288 average.
