CAREER: Promising player takes over as the starting left defensive end in 2007... Considered by the coaching staff to be ready for a breakout season...Was a starter early in the 2006 season before suffering an injury and then playing in the rotation the remainder of the year...In two seasons, has played in 22 games, making five starts...Productive player has career totals of 46 tackles, five tackles for loss, 18 QB pressures, two sacks, three fumble recoveries and two pass deflections...Talented lineman was named Freshman All-ACC by The Sporting News in 2005...Plays the left side of the defensive line...Relentless pass rusher caught the notice of the coaching staff as a true freshman in 2004...Excels at pass rushing but can also play the run...Has tremendous speed coming off the edge, and is deceptively strong for a player of his measurements...Excellent at shedding blockers...Signed with UM in 2003, then deferred enrollment until the spring 2004 semester...Liberal arts major.

2006 (SOPHOMORE): Played in 11 games, earning three starts in the season's first month before a knee injury sidelined him for two games...Played as the backup left end behind Baraka Atkins for the rest of the season...Finished the year with a career-best 23 tackles, two tackles for loss, nine QB pressures (fourth most on the team), one sack, one fumble recovery and two pass breakups...Played as a reserve on 20 plays (no tackles), then earned a starting job for the second game against Florida A&M, when he made two QB pressures, two passes defensed and a fumble recovery that led to a touchdown...Started at Louisville end and made five tackles (four solo) and one QB pressure...Started the Houston game but suffered a knee injury after tallying five tackles (three solo) and three QB pressures...Did not play against North Carolina, then returned to action vs. FIU, tallying three assisted tackles...Made one assisted tackle at both Duke and Georgia Tech, then picked up a solo tackle and a QB pressure against Virginia Tech...Saw limited action at Maryland but made two solo tackles (one for a loss)...Saw considerable playing time a week later at Virginia, making five tackles (three solo), adding one sack and two QB pressures...Made one assisted tackle vs. Boston College, and a solo tackle in the MPC Computers Bowl vs. Nevada.

2005 (FRESHMAN): Named to the Freshman All-ACC team by The Sporting News...Strong pass rusher who ranked third on the team with nine quarterback pressures...Played in 11 games, making two starts when other players were injured...Finished with 22 tackles (12 solo), three tackles for loss, one sack and two fumble recoveries...Played sparingly in the season's first four games, then made the first start of his career vs. Duke in place of an injured Thomas Carroll at right end. Tallied one sack, three assisted tackles and two QB pressures. Also recovered a fumble in the first quarter on the seven-yard line that was turned into a touchdown on the next play...Started the next week at Temple and registered five tackles (two solo), including one tackle for loss and two QB pressures...Returned to a reserve role vs. North Carolina, making one solo tackle. Also recovered another fumble, this time at the four-yard line, leading to a touchdown run on the following play...Did not play at Virginia Tech...Made one assisted tackle and two QB pressures at Wake Forest, and one QB pressure vs. Georgia Tech and Virginia...In the Peach Bowl vs. Louisiana State, made a season-high seven tackles (six solo), with one tackle for loss.

2004 (REDSHIRT): Sat out the season as a redshirt but looked impressive as a member of the scout team.

HIGH SCHOOL: Widely regarded as the state's top pass rusher during his senior season in 2002...Played mostly at defensive end in high school...Made 90 tackles and had 14 sacks as a senior despite missing half the season with an injury...As a junior in 2001, made 92 tackles, 20 sacks and recovered three fumbles...Ranked the nation's No. 42 defensive lineman by Allen Wallace's SuperPrep and was a SuperPrep All-American...The No. 28 player in Florida by SuperPrep...The nation's No. 17 defensive end by Tom Lemming's Prep Football Report...Member of the Palm Beach Post Florida Top 20...The No. 18 player in Florida on the Orlando Sentinel Florida Top 100...Chose Miami over Florida, Ohio State, Florida State and Georgia...Coached by Walt Frazier.
