Emmett Seery (John Emmett Seery) was born on February 13, 1861 in Princeville, Illinois. He made his Major League debut on April 17, 1884 for the Kansas City Unions. In 1884, his rookie year, he hit .313 with 2 home runs and 0 RBI. Seery played for the Kansas City Unions, Baltimore Unions, St. Louis Maroons, Indianapolis Hoosiers, Brooklyn Wonders, Cincinnati Porkers and Louisville Colonels over the course of his 9 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was Emmett Seery's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1889, when he hit for a .314 average and knocked in 59 runs. However, others believe that it was 1888, when he stole 80 bases and knocked in 50 runs.
