Emil Mayer (Emil H. Mayer) was born on July 3, 1903 in East Liverpool, Ohio. Mayer attended Bethany College and Catholic College. Mayer made his professional debut in the NFL in 1927 with the Pottsville Maroons. He played for the Portsmouth Spartans and Pottsville Maroons over the course of his 2 year career.
