Born on May 17, 1886 in Muitzes Kill, New York, Elmer Steele (Elmer Rae Steele) played for the Boston Americans, Boston Red Sox, Pittsburgh Pirates and Brooklyn Superbas over the course of his 5 year career. Steele broke into the bigs on September 12, 1907 with the Boston Americans, and put up a 1.83 ERA in 118 innings pitched in 1908, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Elmer Steele's best season was 1911, when he posted a 2.67 ERA and struck out 61 batters.
