Born on July 31, 1914 in Columbus, Georgia, Elmer Riddle (Elmer Ray Riddle) played for the Cincinnati Reds and Pittsburgh Pirates over the course of his 10 year career. Riddle broke into the bigs on October 1, 1939 with the Cincinnati Reds, and put up a 2.24 ERA in 216.2 innings pitched in 1941, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Elmer Riddle's best season was 1941, when he posted a 2.24 ERA, won 19 games and struck out 80 batters.
