Elmer Ponder

Born on June 26, 1893 in Reed, Oklahoma, Elmer Ponder (Charles Elmer Ponder) played for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Chicago Cubs over the course of his 4 year career. Ponder broke into the bigs on September 18, 1917 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and put up a 2.62 ERA in 196 innings pitched in 1920, his rookie year.
Most people believe that Elmer Ponder's best season was 1920, when he posted a 2.62 ERA, won 11 games and struck out 62 batters.
