Ellis Valentine (Ellis Clarence Valentine) was born on July 30, 1954 in Helena, Arkansas. He made his Major League debut on September 3, 1975 for the Montreal Expos. In 1976, his rookie year, he hit .279 with 7 home runs and 39 RBI. Valentine played for the Montreal Expos, New York Mets, California Angels and Texas Rangers over the course of his 10 year career.

Most people believe that Ellis Valentine's best season was 1978, when he slugged 25 home runs, hit for a .289 average and knocked in 76 runs.
