Ellis Burks (Ellis Rena Burks) was born on September 11, 1964 in Vicksburg, Mississippi. He made his Major League debut on April 30, 1987 for the Boston Red Sox. In 1987, his rookie year, he hit .272 with 20 home runs and 59 RBI. Burks played for the Boston Red Sox, Chicago White Sox, Colorado Rockies, San Francisco Giants and Cleveland Indians over the course of his 18 year career.

Most people believe that Ellis Burks's best season was 1996, when he slugged 40 home runs, stole 32 bases, hit for a .344 average and knocked in 128 runs.
