Eli Popa (Elie Charles Popa) was born on November 4, 1930 in Massillon, Ohio. After going to high school at McKinley (Canton, OH), Popa attended the University of Illinois. Popa made his professional debut in the NFL in 1952 with the Chicago Cardinals. He played for the Chicago Cardinals for his entire 1 year career.
