Born on January 26, 1877 in Greens Fork, Indiana, Eli Cates (Eli Eldo Cates) played for the Washington Senators for his entire 1 year career. Cates broke into the bigs on April 20, 1908 with the Washington Senators, and put up a 2.51 ERA in 114.2 innings pitched in 1908, his rookie year.
