Elbie Nickel (Elbert Everett Nickel) was born on December 28, 1922 in Fullerton, Kentucky. Nickel attended the University of Cincinnati. Nickel made his professional debut in the NFL in 1947 with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played for the Pittsburgh Steelers for his entire 11 year career.
Most people believe that 1952 was Elbie Nickel's best year, as he hauled in 55 receptions, had 884 receiving yards and caught 9 TD passes.
