Born on October 27, 1866 in Cairo, Illinois, Egyptian Healy (John J. Healy) played for the St. Louis Maroons, Indianapolis Hoosiers, Washington Senators, Chicago White Stockings, No Team Name Found, Baltimore Orioles and Louisville Colonels over the course of his 8 year career. Healy broke into the bigs on September 11, 1885 with the St. Louis Maroons, and put up a 3.00 ERA in 66 innings pitched in 1885, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Egyptian Healy's best season was 1890, when he posted a 2.89 ERA, won 22 games and struck out 225 batters.
