Edmonton is a temporary circuit used for racing based around City Centre Airport. The majority of the race track is on the airport's runway, although organizers have installed roads designed specifically for racing. Drivers have noted that these sections drive more like a natural terrain road course than the standard sections.
Racing was first run at this circuit in 2005 for the Champ Car World Series, with Sebastien Bourdais winning the inaugural race. When the series was bought out by IndyCar in 2008, Edmonton was one of three ex-Champ Car facilities to be used during the season. The race, won by Scott Dixon, was the first race for the IndyCar Series in Canada.
For sponsorship purposes, the circuit is known as "Rexall Speedway".
