Eddie Scharer (Edward Scharer) was born on January 26, 1902 in Toledo, Ohio. After going to high school at V.W. Scott (Toledo, OH), Scharer attended the University of Detroit Mercy and the University of Notre Dame. Scharer made his professional debut in the NFL in 1926 with the Detroit Panthers. He played for the Detroit wolverines, Pottsville Maroons and Detroit Panthers over the course of his 3 year career.
