[edit] Biography

Born on August 31, 1875 in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, Eddie Plank (Edward Stewart Plank) played for the Philadelphia Athletics, St. Louis Terriers and St. Louis Browns over the course of his 17 year career. Plank broke into the bigs on May 13, 1901 with the Philadelphia Athletics, and put up a 3.31 ERA in 260.2 innings pitched in 1901, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Eddie Plank's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1904, when he posted a 2.17 ERA, won 26 games and struck out 201 batters. However, others believe that it was 1905, when he posted a 2.26 ERA, won 24 games and struck out 210 batters.
