Eddie Murphy (John Edward Murphy) was born on October 2, 1891 in Hancock, New York. He made his Major League debut on August 26, 1912 for the Philadelphia Athletics. In 1912, his rookie year, he hit .317 with 0 home runs and 6 RBI. Murphy played for the Philadelphia Athletics, Chicago White Sox and Pittsburgh Pirates over the course of his 10 year career.

Most people believe that Eddie Murphy's best season was 1914, when he stole 36 bases.
