Eddie Joost (Edwin David Joost) was born on June 5, 1916 in San Francisco, California. He made his Major League debut on September 11, 1936 for the Cincinnati Reds. In 1939, his rookie year, he hit .252 with 0 home runs and 14 RBI. Joost played for the Cincinnati Reds, Boston Braves, Philadelphia Athletics and Boston Red Sox over the course of his 17 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was Eddie Joost's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1949, when he slugged 23 home runs and knocked in 81 runs. However, others believe that it was 1951, when he slugged 19 home runs, hit for a .289 average and knocked in 78 runs.
