Eddie Burke (Edward D. Burke) was born on October 6, 1866 in Northumberland, Pennsylvania. He made his Major League debut on April 19, 1890 for the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 1890, his rookie year, he hit .251 with 5 home runs and 57 RBI. Burke played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Philadelphia Phillies, Milwaukee Brewers, New York Giants and Cincinnati Reds over the course of his 8 year career.

Most people believe that Eddie Burke's best season was 1893, when he stole 54 bases, hit for a .279 average and knocked in 80 runs.
