Ed White (Edward Alvin White) was born on April 4, 1947 in La Mesa, California. After going to high school at Helix (La Mesa, CA) and Indio (CA), White attended Univeristy of California. White made his professional debut in the NFL in 1969 with the Minnesota Vikings. He played for the Minnesota Vikings and San Diego Chargers over the course of his 17 year career.
