Ed Sharkey (Edward Joseph Sharkey) was born on July 6, 1927 in Brooklyn, New York. After going to high school at De Soto County (Arcadia, FL), Sharkey attended Duke University and the University of Nevada-Reno. Sharkey made his professional debut in the AAFC in 1947 with the New York Yankees. He played in the AAFC for 3 years, playing for the New York Yankees the entire time. Sharkey also played in the NFL for 6 years, playing for the San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles, Cleveland Browns, New York Yanks and Baltimore Colts over the course of his 6 year NFL career.

Most people believe that 1950 was Ed Sharkey's best year, as he recovered 3 opponents fumbles.
