Born on September 7, 1874 in Canton, Ohio, Ed Poole (Edward Isaih Poole) played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Cincinnati Reds and Brooklyn Superbas over the course of his 5 year career. Poole broke into the bigs on October 6, 1900 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and put up a 3.60 ERA in 80 innings pitched in 1901, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Ed Poole's best season was 1902, when he posted a 2.10 ERA, won 12 games and struck out 57 batters.
