Ed Mooney (Edward John Mooney) was born on February 26, 1945 in Brooklyn, New York. After going to high school at Central (Walikill, NY), Mooney attended Texas Technical University and Western Nebraska Community College. Mooney made his professional debut in the NFL in 1968 with the Detroit Lions. He played for the Detroit Lions and Baltimore Colts over the course of his 5 year career.

Most people believe that 1969 was Ed Mooney's best year.
