Ed Karpowich (Edward Karpowich) was born on September 28, 1912 in Duquesne, Pennsylvania. After going to high school at Duquesne (PA), Karpowich attended Catholic College. Karpowich made his professional debut in the NFL in 1936 with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He played for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Pittsburgh Steelers over the course of his 5 year career.

Most people believe that 1937 was Ed Karpowich's best year.
