Born on May 6, 1883 in San Angelo, Texas, Ed Karger (Edwin Karger) played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Pittsburgh Pirates, Cincinnati Reds and Boston Red Sox over the course of his 6 year career. Karger broke into the bigs on April 15, 1906 with the St. Louis Cardinals, and put up a 2.62 ERA in 219.2 innings pitched in 1906, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Ed Karger's best season was 1907, when he posted a 2.04 ERA, won 15 games and struck out 137 batters.
