Ed Healey (Edward Francis Healey, Jr.) was born on December 28, 1894 in Indian Orchard, Massachusetts. Healey attended Dartmouth College. Healey made his professional debut in the APFA in 1920 with the Rock Island Independents. He played in the APFA for 2 years, playing for the Rock Island Independents the entire time. Healey also played in the NFL for 6 years, playing for the Chicago Bears and Rock Island Independents over the course of his 6 year NFL career.

Most people believe that 1921 was Ed Healey's best year, as he ran back a fumble for a touchdown.
