Born on September 18, 1920 in Union Mills, Indiana, Ed Hanyzewski (Edward Michael Hanyzewski) played for the Chicago Cubs for his entire 5 year career. Hanyzewski broke into the bigs on May 12, 1942 with the Chicago Cubs, and put up a 2.56 ERA in 130 innings pitched in 1943, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Ed Hanyzewski's best season was 1943, when he posted a 2.56 ERA and struck out 55 batters.
