Ed Gerber (Elwood G. Gerber) was born on August 7, 1920 in Kankakee, Illinois. After going to high school at Napierville (IL), Gerber attended the University of Alabama. Gerber made his professional debut in the NFL in 1941 with the Philadelphia Eagles. He played for the Philadelphia Eagles for his entire 2 year career.

Most people believe that 1942 was Ed Gerber's best year.
